Bitemize Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 7, 2026
Bitemize helps you find restaurant orders that fit your calorie and macro targets. This policy explains what the app collects and what it doesn't.
What stays on your device
These never leave your phone:
- the calorie and macro targets you enter
- your saved presets (names and values)
- your recently selected restaurants
- your settings
Bitemize has no accounts and doesn't ask for your name, email or any other contact information.
What the app downloads
The app downloads restaurant nutrition data from our server (hosted on Supabase). The request contains no personal information. As with any internet request, the server may see your IP address in its standard logs.
Anonymous usage analytics (optional)
If analytics is on (the default), the app sends these anonymous events through Google Analytics for Firebase:
| Event | What it includes |
|---|---|
app_open | Nothing beyond the event itself |
dataset_synced | The nutrition data version number |
suggestions_requested | How many restaurants were selected and which ones (restaurant IDs) |
suggestions_shown | How many orders were shown and whether any fit |
order_detail_viewed | The restaurant ID of the order viewed |
preset_saved | Nothing beyond the event itself |
Analytics never includes your targets, preset names or values, anything you type, or your advertising identifier. Advertising ID collection is turned off, and Bitemize doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Firebase also records standard technical information with each event, such as app version, device model, OS version, country (from IP) and an app-instance identifier, plus its built-in app-lifecycle events (first open, session start, app update). Automatic screen-view tracking is turned off.
You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage analytics. The change applies immediately and stays off after you restart the app.
Crash reports (optional)
If crash reporting is on (the default), Firebase Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes or hits an unexpected error. A report contains the error and stack trace, app version, OS version, device model and the nutrition data version. It doesn't include your targets or presets. Turn it off in Settings → Send crash reports.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell your data or share it with anyone other than the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf.
Retention
Analytics and crash data are kept according to Google Firebase's retention settings for this project (default: 14 months for analytics, 90 days for crash reports).
Children
Bitemize isn't directed at children under 13.
Health information
Bitemize is not a medical service. Nutrition values come from restaurants' published information and are not medical advice.
